Mission Waco Day 1

Day1
We all arrived safely to Waco, Texas! We arrived and went straight to a building called the Rock for dinner. Everyone already had the McAlister's box waiting for them with their name on it! After we ate we let the kids hang out at the park and get some energy out.

After dinner and playing some at the park, the girls went back to the hotel to make up their little homes for the next few days and hit up the pool. The girls were having a blast splashing around and hanging out with each other!

The boys had a quick orientation at the Rock and then went to My Brother's Keeper. My Brother's Keeper is the homeless shelter that Mission Waco runs. They were able to meet with some of the residents at the shelter before Pastor Trent got up and lead the boys and shelter guests in a quick devotional. He spoke about David and Saul in Psalm 18:1-2. After the quick devotional, we had the boys go around and get to know some of the residents at the shelter. We had them ask them questions about their lives and what lead them to be homeless. So many kids were excited to tell facts about the person they had met! A few of them were shocked to see people that looked "normal" at the shelter. There were a few teenagers that were splitting their time between the shelter and living in a tent. It was a great way for the kids to see someone kids so young sharing their stories. A few kids even got up the courage to ask their new friend to church on Sunday. We are hoping they join us at Church Under the Bridge!

Tomorrow we are up bright and early for breakfast at 7:15. From there we will split up into 8 different groups for our morning projects. I can't wait to see what God continues to do in the lives of the kids, adults, and people that we will come into contact during our trip. We would love the prayers!  I hope you enjoy some pictures for day 1!
